Why Sealcoat? Because asphalt has many natural enemies. Normal traffic is not an enemy to properly designed and constructed asphalt pavement. Surface wear is primarily the result of weathering, oxidation and the destructive softening effect of gasoline, oil and chemical de-icers. What happens? Sunlight and moisture are the major causes of surface deterioration. Without proper protection, surfaces oxidize, permitting the aggregate in the asphalt mix to wash away. Unprotected asphalt loses desired resiliency, aggregate ravels from the surface, the pavement roughens, the surface becomes brittle, causes cracks. Water enters the cracks and causes sub-damage. Hydraulic pressure (expansion and contraction) enlarges the cracks. Heavy traffic, winter, freeze-thaw cycles cause damage. Unfilled cracks allow water to saturate the sub-surface rupturing the pavement, turning cracks into - yep you guessed it - potholes! Untended asphalt will age before your very eyes. Progressive weakening of neglected asphalt, water and weather damage ravelling can reduce life by as much as 50% in just five years.  |

| THE FOLLOWING IS A DETAILED LIST OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE The entire surface is cleaned with blowers and wire brushes, removing all dirt and debris. All oil, gas and grease spots are degreased before sealcoating to ensure proper adhesion of the sealer and also to rid the asphalt of substances that severly damage it. All cracks are filled with a fast drying, rubberized crack filler that prevents water penetration to the sub-surface, and does not become sticky at high temperatures. Our specially formulated crack-filler exceeds ASTM-3405 Fed. Specifications. All asphalt surfaces are sealed using rubberized THERMOSEAL (a coal-tar based sealer that contains a rejuvenator that penetrates the surface and replenishes the oils necessary to keep the pavement flexible and provide proper protection against freeze, thaw, oil, gas and road salt) WITH SILICA SAND AND POLYMER ADDITIVES. Our sealer exceeds the following Federal Specifications: RP355e, MIL C 15203C, FAA Spec P625 & P626A, ASTM-D2939. (**NOTE: AMERICAN ASPHALT SEALCOATING is the only company in the USA to apply this specially formulated sealer.) All holes and deteriorated areas are repaired with virgin hot-mix asphalt and compacted to proper density. All resurfacing is installed to a minimum depth of 1 1/2 inches compacted and installed to standards established by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA). Striping is done by state-of-the-art equipment using Acrylic Latex paint. All lines and symbols are painted according to customer specifications and we ensure your compliance with all ADA Regulations. Proper barricading of newly serviced areas is provided to ensure the safety of your family, customers or tenants, and the proper curing time prior to being opened to traffic.
